How To Make A Classic Margarita On The Rocks

Ready to get your blender humming for a great drink?  Or maybe you have a proper margarita maker.

The margarita is a very popular cocktail drink. It is perhaps the most popular of all tequila-based drinks available. What makes the margarita very popular is that it is a very refreshing drink to have thanks to the lime juice in its ingredients. There are hardly any bars or clubs that do not offer this cocktail drink as the drink literally has lots of patrons. Even though the margarita is a very refreshing cocktail, it is not gender specific as both men and women can enjoy drinking this fine cocktail.

Since its invention during the 1940s, the margarita has had its share of innovation. On the other hand, most of the variations made to the margarita are mostly just the fruit to give it its color and flavor. The margarita basically has still retained many of the ingredients used in the making of its cocktail. The margarita can be served using different glasses. Nevertheless, it can also be served on a margarita glass for that authentic feel.

The ingredients needed for a margarita drink are:

  • 1½ oz. Tequila
  • ½ oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • Lime Wedge
  • Salt
  • Ice Cubes

When serving a margarita, you need to present it with style. This can be done by making sure that the serving glass is salt-rimmed. To do this, get a lime wedge and stick the lime’s meat onto the rim of the glass. Circle it around the glass to make sure the entire rim is wet. Now dip the top part of the serving glass onto a saucer of iodized salt. The salt will stick to the wet part of the glass thus making it salt-rimmed.

Once you have your serving glass ready, get your metal shaker and then place some ice cubes inside the shaker. Put all your liquids inside – tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Once that’s done, cover the shaker and shake the contents vigorously. This will allow the content to get cold without being diluted. Strain the contents of your shaker into the salt-rimmed glass you prepared recently. Garnish the cocktail drink with some lime wedges. Serve and enjoy.
