Every good party needs the right assortment of beverages and this is especially true when entertaining during the summer months. Having a blender handy not only allows the host or hostess to offer crushed ice for the guests drinks but opens up a whole array of easy and impressive cocktails to offer the crowd. Alcoholic beverages made using the blender can be refreshing as well as a festive feature of the gathering.
Daiquiris, Margaritas and Pina Coladas are common summer blender drinks. Recipes can be found for these drinks anywhere. Here are some lesser known ones that not only pack a punch, but will surprise your guests with your bartending prowess.
|3 cups of chilled tomato juice||1/3 cup of taco sauce (mild)|
|1 cup of Vodka||1 Tsp. of celery juice or celery salt|
|2 – 3 Tbsp. of lemon juice||2 Tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce|
Combine 1 cup of the tomato juice with the taco sauce, celery salt or juice, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice in the blender. Blend until mixture is smooth. Add in the remaining tomato juice and vodka then blend at low speed. Serve over ice and garnish with a lemon slice. Great for brunches! Recipe yields 6 servings.
|½ cup of milk||1 Tbsp. of instant coffee (regular or decaffeinated)|
|1 Tbsp. of brandy||½ cup of frozen non-dairy whipped topping (thawed)|
|1 Tbsp. of crème de cacao liqueur|
Pour the milk into the blender and add the instant coffee. Blend for 5 seconds at low speed. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth at medium speed. Serve over crushed ice and garnish with whipped topping and strawberries. Recipe yields 2 servings of about a half cup each.
|1 lb. can of pear halves (frozen for at least 3 hours)||¼ cup of lemon or lime juice|
|¼ cup of rum||Crushed Ice|
Scoop about 1/3 to ½ of the can of frozen pear can (including juice) into the blender and add the rum, lemon or lime juice and crushed ice. Blend at medium speed for about 15 – 20 seconds. Serve with straws. Recipe yields 4 servings.
|1½ ounces of peach schnapps||5 – 6 fresh strawberries (or 1 scoop of frozen strawberries)|
|1 scoop of vanilla ice cream|
Place all ingredients in the blender and blend 15 – 30 seconds at the medium speed. Substitute other fruits for the strawberries to create your own concoction! Garnish with fruit. Recipe yields 2 servings.
